Bishkeks: Three suspects were arrested on Wednesday in a Silk Road-related investigation, according to the Indonesian government.
A fourth person was also detained, the Jakarta Police Department said in a statement.
According to the statement, the suspects are suspected of involvement in a criminal conspiracy that involved the sale of illegal drugs and illegal firearms.
Indonesia, a member of the Southeast Asian nation of Botswana, has been a Silk Rd. hot spot for months.
It has been the scene of several major Silk Road raids, including one in June.
“The investigation in Bishkelman, located in the northern part of the province of Banten, has led to the arrest of four people suspected of being involved in illegal activities,” the statement said.
“They are being interrogated and will face charges in the future,” the police said.
Authorities said they would issue warrants for the arrest and trial of the other suspects.
“The suspects are accused of being part of a criminal organization and their activities are based on drug trafficking and the trafficking of illegal firearms,” the official said.
Indonesian officials have been warning of a crackdown on Silk Road since last year, when they announced the arrest of a drug kingpin who had been operating on the Silk Road.
The Silk Road has been widely criticised for its murky, unregulated and largely unregulated marketplaces that allowed illicit drugs and weapons to be shipped around the world, including in Southeast Asia.
